A reflection from Riley surgeon Dr. Brian Gray

No one wants to see the surgeon. Every day, I meet with children and families from all areas of our state and beyond. As I reflect on this year, I think of each one of them. I think of comforting the family who came to Riley because we had the solution to a seemingly unsolvable surgical problem. I also think of the family who arrived at Riley with their child needing our immediate expert care to survive.
It’s always an honor to care for these kids and families. My goal is to make the process as easy as possible for them.
Every child deserves to live a carefree and happy life. At Riley Children’s Health, we’re combining cutting-edge research and personalized patient care to accomplish that. And at Riley, not only are we treating the whole patient, but also supporting the entire family through programs like Child Life and Social Work.
Together, we can ensure every child has access to the best care and more effective treatments at Riley. This holiday season, I invite you to join me in caring for these children and their families.
With gratitude,
Brian W.
